Won a Competition - I'm in an Anthology
What an absolutely stunning cover; I couldn’t be more proud that my first published story is in this book.
Let’s rewind a little … Back in February, this year, Spread the Word held their City of Stories Home Competition. It was open to all residents in London (UK) and, as I’m sure you’ve guessed, I entered.
My flash fiction, ‘Hasten to Prayer’ was the winner for my borough (Barking and Dagenham). The prize was publication in an anthology along with the other borough winners and highly commended writers. The result is a physical book for me to cherish forever.
(Oh, there was also the £50 payment, I don’t know why that slipped my mind.)
As part of the promotion, Spread the Word has been holding readings and writing classes at each borough’s local library. This is where you can get ahold of the physical copy of the anthology. Though, don’t worry if you haven’t managed to get a copy, because you can read the book online here:
For me, I have completed my reading (my first one ever!), so I can breathe a sigh of relief. As nerve-wracking as I found it though, readings can only mean success and, of course, I want more of that.
As I’m having one of those brain freeze days, I’m going to end this blog in a most abrupt way … bye.
